WebCTRL™ Building Automation System from Carrier Selected to Increase Energy Efficiency at Beijing Shuohuang Development Building

June 28, 2011

Looking to increase energy efficiency and reduce operational costs, the Beijing Shuohuang Development Building has selected Carrier China to install a premier WebCTRL building automation system.  Carrier is the world’s leader in high technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions and a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

A powerful and intuitive web-based platform, the WebCTRL building automation system integrates numerous innovative technologies from Carrier into a single, secured control platform to provide customers with comprehensive reporting, trending and scheduling capabilities for buildings from anywhere in the world, using a computer or PDA, without the need for special software. This allows trends to be quickly identified and systems adjusted all at the touch of a button to ensure optimal system performance and lower energy consumption.

“Carrier China’s work with the Beijing Shuohuang Development Building reinforces the strong capabilities and innovative technologies that the WebCTRL building automation system offers to customers looking for easier control of building operations and increased cost effective performance.” said David Ma, Director, Asia Controls System, Carrier.

Located in downtown Beijing, the Beijing Shuohuang Development Building is an 18-floor office building with four underground floors that spans 75 meters high and covers a total construction area of 60,164 square meters.

Carrier’s WebCTRL building automation system was chosen due to its security, reliability and leading technologies. The Carrier China team tailored a systematic control strategy for this project in order to monitor key operational systems in the building, including air conditioning, fresh air system, air emission system, water supply, and lighting. The system designed for this project will also offer integrated management of the cooling and heating sources, electricity, fire alarm, elevator and multi-split air conditioners, with a total of more than 4,300 integrated control points. Developed entirely around BACnet open standards and web-based technologies, WebCTRL can integrate devices across many platforms, making a facility’s systems operations seamless.
