The new Vector™ 1350 unit from Carrier Transicold, delivering a capacity of 12,700 Watts, is optimized for long haul transportation and rounds out the Vector range, now comprised of three specialized refrigeration units designed to suit a multitude of customer applications. Carrier Transicold helps improve global transport and shipping temperature control with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers and is part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The Vector 1350 unit maximises payload and reliability while minimizing fuel consumption and system downtime, all within a lightweight package that optimizes capacity to maintain temperature over long distances. The 1,1 L engine, driven by a new control, reduces fuel consumption by up to 30% over Maxima under the new upcoming CEN Partial Load regulation test protocol, and drives both a compressor and a generator to power the ventilation system. Three electric fans significantly improve system reliability by reducing the number of belts needed compared to belt driven units.
The Vector 1350 unit joins the established Vector line, which includes the 14,800-watt Vector 1550 and the 18,800-watt Vector 1950. The Vector 1550 unit delivers excellent pull-down and temperature control to transport a variety of perishable and temperature-sensitive goods for a wide range of logistical applications, while the high capacity Vector 1950 mono- and multi-temperature units provide faster pull-down and the ability to haul larger loads for intensive city deliveries with frequent stops and door openings. Both the Vector 1550 and 1950 units feature Carrier’s E-Drive™ all-electric technology.
“With our comprehensive Vector range, Carrier Transicold offers its customers the right Vector unit for each of their missions, providing specific units for long haul or distribution, and under any condition,” said David Appel, president, Carrier Transicold.
As part of the range, the Vector 1350 unit has been designed to provide maximum cold-chain protection and optimum total cost of ownership while lowering its carbon footprint. As well, by using a microchannel condenser coil the Vector 1350 unit carries 27 percent less refrigerant than its predecessor.
Weighing in at just 643 kilograms, the Vector 1350 unit is up to 17 percent lighter than competitive units, which enables haulers to carry larger payloads. It also offers a new, user-friendly control interface for easier operation. Key features have dedicated buttons and universal symbols that are easy for operators to understand regardless of language, and help to avoid potentially costly mistakes when choosing the proper temperature settings inside the trailer.
The Vector 1350 unit is designed using proven technology and key components that are widely available. The unit’s design enables easy access to components for faster maintenance and reduced downtime.
“The light weight and simplicity of the Vector 1350 unit makes it the perfect fit for the long-haul transportation of temperature-controlled goods,” said Bertrand Gueguen, president, Carrier Transicold, Truck / Trailer, at a customer launch event in Berlin today.
