TKZ Strzępek Boosts Efficiency, Savings with New Carrier Transicold Vector™ 1350 Unit

ROPCZYCE, Poland, Feb. xx, 2015 – TKZ Strzępek, a specialist in refrigerated transport, recently purchased six Vector 1350 trailer refrigeration units from Carrier Transicold Poland to help reduce fuel consumption for its long-haul operations. Carrier Transicold, which operates in Poland as Carrier Transicold Polska Sp. z o.o., helps improve global transport and shipping temperature control with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers, and is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Focused on enhanced cost and energy efficiency, TKZ Strzępek added the 12,700-watt Vector 1350 units to its 24 semi-trailer fleet, which is almost exclusively equipped with Carrier Transicold units.
“We need efficient and cost-effective units to stay competitive,” said Grzegorz Strzępek, owner, TKZ Strzępek. “In the current economy, any reduction in fuel consumption matters, and the savings can be especially significant when taking into account the fuel consumption of an entire fleet over a full year. The Vector 1350 unit generates fuel savings of 6-8 percent per month on average, per unit, in comparison to the units they replaced.”

The Vector 1350 unit is specifically designed to help ensure cargo safety for long-haul transport. It combines a simple, proven, mechanical power transmission and the advantages of the all-electric E-DriveTM technology from the established Vector line, which also includes the 14,800-watt Vector 1550 and the 18,800-watt Vector 1950 units.

“The decision to purchase Vector 1350 units was influenced by our positive experience with Vector 1550 units for short-haul,” said Strzępek.
TKZ Strzępek, one of the oldest transport companies in the Subcarpathia region, carries fresh fruits and vegetables, which are extremely temperature-sensitive, across Europe from Portugal to Ukraine. To help meet the exacting demands of retailers and end customers, TKZ Strzępek uses Carrier’s DataCOLD™ recorders to monitor temperature performance.
“We continually test the Vector 1350 unit’s features and functions on different routes with different loads,” Strzępek said. “During this process, we found that the Vector 1350 units provide quick cooling and maintain the required temperature during transport.”

An additional advantage of the new units is the user-friendly control panel. “Most of my drivers are well-trained and experienced. However, they always need some time to adapt to using new equipment,” explained Strzępek. “With the new Vector 1350 control panel, information is easy to read and encourages the drivers to select the right settings according to the transport conditions.”

Carrier-authorized service representative Mors Borek of Debica services TKZ Strzępek’s Carrier units locally. “It is very helpful to have a regular contact located close to our company,” said Strzępek. “They keep us informed about new products and offers. We regularly service our fleet to keep it in optimal condition, ready to use anytime we need. This is important because we work seven days a week, 24 hours a day.”
