The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 was a real cliff hanger. Spoiler alert: the Federal government did it and the tax-paying consumer gets the credit.
For those of you who upgraded your system in 2012, you need not feel left out. The Act made these tax credits retroactively effective for qualifying purchases going back to January 1, 2012. So you can benefit too—that is unless you've already made other energy efficiency improvements for which you've received prior tax credits of $500 or more.
For those of you planning an HVAC purchase now or in the near future, your potential for tax credits of up to $500 are just one more reason why buying a higher-efficiency system is the way to go.
Just know this isn’t a forever thing. Unless congress writes a sequel, these tax credits end December 31, 2013.

Given the cost and instabilities around energy sources like oil, the federal government is understandably encouraging use of energy-efficient alternatives. That's why it's willing to give you a credit on your taxes if you purchase a qualifying geothermal system to heat and cool your home.
Instead of consuming oil or gas, geothermal heat pumps use electricity and draw thermal energy directly from the earth. Using your yard, pond or well, this ingenious technology enables you to enjoy higher energy efficiency inside your home—no matter how extreme the weather gets outside.
Go geothermal, and you'll realize substantial savings on your energy bills year to year—and a big boost from Uncle Sam in the form of a one-time tax credit of up to 30% of the installed cost.* Who's your favorite uncle now?

*For existing homeowners and those building a new home who install qualifying geothermal heating and cooling systems, a one-time tax credit is available totaling 30% of the installed cost of a residential ground loop or ground water geothermal heat pump.
To qualify for this credit, the system must meet current geothermal ENERGY STAR® requirements and be installed prior to December 31, 2016.
For details go to the ENERGY STAR®website. This notice is not to be considered tax advice. See your tax professional to determine how these credits would apply in your circumstance.

Which means if you have a Carrier® heat pump, air conditioner or furnace that's 30 years old, you're undoubtedly missing out on some very important benefits. As a thank-you for your loyalty, we'd like to make it worth your while to upgrade.
We'll give you a $100 rebate check by mail when you trade in your 30-something year old Carrier air conditioner, heat pump or gas furnace for one of our Infinity® or Performance™ series units.* We promise, the $100 rebate check is just the beginning of the savings you'll see each month in the form of lower utility bills.
