C+C Schaper Gains Flexibility with Carrier Transicold’s Multi-Temperature Supra® 1250MT Unit

GEORGSMARIENHÜTTE, Germany -

C+C Schaper, a unit of Metro Cash & Carry Germany, is turning to Carrier Transicold’s Supra 1250MT to help meet the needs of its wide range of customers, while maintaining the quality of perishable goods. The wholesale company has secured 30 1250MT units, which feature up to four separate, temperature-controlled compartments to keep meat and dry goods fresh for delivery. Carrier Transicold, which operates in Germany as Carrier Transicold Germany, helps improve global transport and shipping of temperature-controlled cargoes with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers, and is part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

From high-end hotels and restaurants in the city, to retirement homes in the country, the diversity of C+C Schaper’s distribution operations presents a continuous challenge to maintain the quality of goods during transport. “We are seeing a rise in the number of goods requiring various temperature settings that need to be loaded in one truck,” said Uwe Stockinger, fleet manager, C+C Schaper. “We now have the flexibility to do just that.”

The high capacity Supra 1250MT unit offers 12,000 watts cooling capacity for customers requiring intensive distribution. New fans increase airflow by up to 24 percent for quick temperature recovery and improved air management. The use of a 7 millimeter condenser and smaller compressor deliver lower fuel consumption per watt, helping to improve the Supra unit’s efficiency.

“The Supra 1250MT unit has excellent power and fast pull-down,” said Heino Vollman, driver, C+C Schaper. “Within minutes, the unit cools to 20 degrees below zero Celsius or heats the compartment when necessary.”

This benefit helps to overcome the challenge of making deliveries in the summer when multiple door openings can hinder temperature control. The refrigeration unit also features electric fans that deliver a constant airflow, regardless of the speed of the diesel engine, so temperature sensitive cargo is kept fresh.

The trucks are equipped with the low noise version of the Supra refrigeration unit, reaching only 62.5 dBA at low speed, which meets the restrictions of the retirement homes C+C Schaper services.

“We have chosen Carrier Transicold’s Supra 1250MT for its energy efficiency, as well as the low noise feature – this is very important for some of our customers,” said Stockinger.
