Carrier Corp.’s 11th Global Engineering Conference Brings Emerging Building Trends and Environmental Issues into Focus

Syracuse, N.Y., United States

What are the emerging building design trends in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry today? What do building owners and designers need to be aware of to support environmental stewardship in the future? And how can innovative green building and sustainable design principles and strategies be applied to existing projects?

Carrier Corporation, the world’s leader in high technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions and a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), will address these questions and more at its 11th Global Engineering Conference, scheduled for March 18-20, 2012, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.

With the theme “20/20 the Future in Focus:  Rethink.  Restore.  Regenerate.” the 2012 Global Engineering Conference will include a mix of keynote addresses and concurrent workshops presented by some of the world’s thought leaders aimed at creating dialogue within the engineering community to rethink the way the industry leverages new technologies and engineering practices as well as how we can conserve, restore and regenerate the world’s resources.

“The HVAC industry plays a pivotal role in the quality and productivity of people’s lives around the world. We know much is at stake with our natural environment, and much must be brought into balance,” said Geraud Darnis, president, Carrier Corp. “That’s why Carrier’s Global Engineering Conference is a key event for the industry, giving experts and building professionals a place to come together to discuss current and emerging design trends, especially related to environmental technologies.”

Started in 1992, this highly-respected international conference features industry leaders presenting new technology and engineering topics in the HVAC industry.  The previous conference held in 2008 was attended by more than 650 building design, engineering and consulting professionals from around the world. Continuing Education Units and Professional Development Hours also will be awarded.

Carrier’s 2012 Global Engineering Conference will focus on green building to reduce consumption of non-renewable natural resources, to minimize waste and to create a healthy, productive environment for generations to come. Case studies will be presented to demonstrate innovation in sustainable design as well as the use of sustainability in engineering. Attendees should leave the conference armed with information that can be applied to new or existing building projects.

“The Global Engineering Conference has a proven track record of being a world class event that educates and energizes our engineering and building community about the newest trends, techniques, and technologies. Carrier is pleased to once again sponsor this important event to elevate the dialogue about the future of buildings,” said Bob McDonough, president, Residential & Commercial Systems for Carrier.
