Carrier Corp. welcomed Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), to its Charlotte, N.C., chiller factory for a tour and overview of the company’s approach to environmental sustainability. Chair Sutley viewed the manufacturing facility and spoke to employees building Carrier’s Evergreen® 23XRV chillers, which exceed the energy efficiency industry standard by 40 percent. Carrier Corp., a unit of United Technologies Corp. The Carrier Corp. Charlotte Chiller Operation has been awarded several honors in recognition of having become a world-class sustainable manufacturing facility. Most recently, the manufacturing facility was named one of IndustryWeek’s top 10 Best Plants in North America. These awards come with safety at the forefront. The Charlotte team has over 10 years without a lost time incident. These honors also took place while nine new products were introduced, affecting every assembly line in the plant.
